so much safer for an elderly person. It doesn't have a temperature setting so you can't turn it off when it gets hot but best of all it's very comfortable for arthritic hands and you can touch it anywhere and it won't burn you unlike the tongs on curls that take so long have stems. and it's easy to burn older girls like me It gives my hair just enough thickness and I highly recommend it for older girls to feel safe from burns and to be able to curl their hair without too much fuss. I love it.
