I currently have several portable speakers, wired speakers and a home theater system. I've always been a fan of BOSE audio docking stations and Revolve+ portable power supplies. Bose is known for its over-emphasized and artificially created soundstage. However, this is a positive thing in my opinion when it comes to small portable speakers. When the first BOSE Sounddock came out years ago, I was amazed at how big and full it sounded for its size. I have several generations of these and now they have the Bose Soundtouch series 10, 20, 30. I have the 20 series and I have them in my office. Great wired speaker in a smaller size. However, I wanted to take my portable speaker to the beach, pool, garage, porch, garden, etc. The BOSE Revolve Plus was the answer. When I first turned it on I was blown away by the sound and bass for the small size. The battery lasts a long time and the splash guard was nice when we took it to the pool with friends. As our family grows, I find that the Revolver Plus is becoming a thing of the past, so I wanted to buy another one. I've been waiting for weeks knowing BOSE would come out with a new version that's just slightly bigger, more powerful, with deeper bass, WiFi, and now Alexa and other app features. I got it about a week ago and it was very easy to connect to the internet, update the BOSE app and run it. No problems like some. I really like being able to run it over Wi-Fi at home but still be able to use Bluetooth when I'm away from home. I think the Sonos app is better, but the Bose app is still fine and seems to be getting better with updates. (Have been using the BOSE app for a few years now) After charging I put it next to the revolver plus to see if it was different enough or if I would send it back to get another revolver plus. I could easily switch back and forth in my Spotify app to move audio from one to the other over and over again. I tried different styles of music from country to hip-hop, jazz and rock. Definitely warmer and fuller sound with the new BOSE portable home speaker system. Louder if necessary. I thought the revolver sounded great, but now it sounds a little softer compared to this one. The extra heatsink also gives it a bit more bass, which is nice. The size between them is almost the same: the new Bose is a hair taller, wider and slightly heavier. I have a photo of both side by side from above. I didn't miss the Sonos Move for the sound, but for its size, weight and portability. Definitely don't throw this speaker in the suitcase or in the car to go on a trip. Much heavier and bigger. The size of this speaker and the carrying handle allow you to take it anywhere. Add in built-in Alexa and you've got a great speaker. Yes, it's a little expensive. If you're considering the Revolve Plus option, spend an extra $50 on it. You will not regret it. Overall I am very happy with this speaker. Very clear highs, "good" mids and decent bass for its size. I also like that you can adjust bass and treble where you can't turn. I currently have a Sonos Play 5 that I love and use in my living room. I also have a Sonos Beam for the center in the family room. Both are great for this room and I really like the Sonos app. I also have a Martin Logan theater system in the basement. This Bose is honestly not that far behind the Play 5, which is stunning. I'm just showing you what a great job BOSE can do with such a small footprint. To sum up, if you're looking for a portable speaker that you can easily take to the beach, pool, backyard, gym, or wherever else, I don't think this speaker can match in terms of size, sound, Alexa -Skills and more will disappoint timing offline work. . Well done BOZ!
