Review on πŸ–ΌοΈ Fredrix 3501 Canvas Pads: Premium 12 by 16-Inch Art Surface for Painting & Sketching by Gelin Battle

Very nice pad design; Canvas texture noticeably rough

This linen notebook has a very comfortable design that makes it easy to use on the go without the need for a large workspace or easel for drawing. The backing of the canvas backing is double ply black cardstock, meaning it's rigid and strong enough to support the backing against any vertical surface and not bow inward or slide off the surface when touched by brush strokes on the canvas is attacked. In addition, you can fully tilt the block cover towards you so that it does not interfere with your drawing. What I particularly didn't like is that the texture of the canvas, positioned as " where the excess paint appears as large blobs in comparison. The texture of the bumps is still visible through the finished paint job when viewed up close. Given this rough surface, if you want to fit multiple figures into the painting, good luck trying to draw delicate human faces that are less than an inch tall. But texture can be a bonus for you if you're rougher. I also found that the MACET pen was on the canvas when touched, so I had to sketch the outlines with a brush and umber or ocher paint instead. Both of those points mean I wouldn't recommend using it for very detailed/miniature work, but other than that this canvas is great for practice and larger scale subject matter drawing. EDIT: I forgot to mention that this is not the case. Removing the canvas from this pillow is as easy as you might think. You can't just pull the foil to separate it from the connecting adhesive. like pads of paper. Instead, you must use a razor blade to cut through the binding on one or both sides of the sheet to separate the page from the cover at the front and the sheet at the back. Unfortunately I damaged and lost the top edge of my front cover painting when I tried to crop it the first time.
