They fit me when I was looking for women's water shoes so I decided to try them for river swimming after getting a lot of feedback from friends that they used them all the time walk barefoot. They felt comfortable and secure enough when I tried them on. When I first stepped towards the river, the sand/mud at the water's edge caught them and when I lifted my foot it was all just dangling from the ropes around my ankle. I put all the straps back in place and tried to take another step, but this time I pulled my sandalless foot up. I immediately ripped off the other leg and jerked through the air (away from the river) with all the strength I could and continued barefoot. They weren't very expensive, but they were NOT worth the frustration of carrying them in the water.
