Great batons!

That's a great potholder so listen to me. I'm an avid cook and baker: I bake all our sandwiches and any other bread we want, plus an incredible amount of cookies, cakes, bar desserts, etc. The neighbors love us and I'm all grown up. Chef: I'm a step ahead of my mom in that I have a large garden where we grow most of our produce year-round (yes, we're lucky) and take full advantage of each produce. I only explain this aspect because we have already tried quite a few potholders. I used to buy them from Williams-Sonoma or Sue la Table because they matched different kitchen linens or just out of habit. then I washed them (which is weird because I usually wash things before use). The WS became so shriveled that it was difficult to grasp things because they were so swollen. SLT just fell apart. When I went to Amazon to find insulated batting to sew on the batch I thought I'd take a look at what's already been done. Blue Q makes great socks that I regularly wear when I'm gardening and my neighbors laugh at them, so I decided to try some of these naughty ladies. They are not only VERY heat resistant, but also washable. You can burn, especially when working with something like Green Egg or Komodo, but that's because the outer fabric isn't heat resistant, the inner fabric is. And yes, these aren't gloves, these are mittens, they work exactly as expected. To be honest they are better than the ones sold in fashion stores and they are cheaper than buying an insulating fabric and then putting on a different lining. that and quilting and then adding another fabric to cover it plus a good stitch of bias binding around the bottom and time to make them because c'mon. And it's always fun to rummage through the drawer and see something silly when you're so tired of making dinner after a long day at work.
