Pay attention to previous reviews. These gems are coated in a red synthetic gel that dissolves in water. While this is not a problem, unless you soak them, they cannot be used in an aquarium. Luckily I soaked mine before using so I didn't have any fish kills, but it was very difficult to get rid of any residue that came off. I have a few clear gems left that I think work great but were not at all what I wanted when I bought them.
