TRAVEL: I'm looking for a lightweight case or bag to use for my Sony A6000 when hiking. I want to be able to get the camera out of the case quickly. The lens is usually always on the camera. For now, it's a Sony SEL-20F28 E-mount 20mm F2.8 Prime lens with the aperture on. It's a pancake lens, but even so, the lens takes up quite a bit of space. The hood adds a bit more. To give you an idea of the size of this mount, with the lens hood on, the lens protrudes from the grip on the right side of the camera about as far as the grip protrudes from the main body. Another way to find out the size is to go to camerasize.com, click START, and then click the little "cameras with lenses" link. After selecting the A6000, click on the rightmost view to activate the lens selector and select the lens you want. I believe this will show the lens without the hood, so everything with the hood will be larger. I have nothing to do with cameraizes.com. This camera bag is not what I'm looking for. What I like: The cover is light and opens and closes with a comfortable and strong Velcro connection. It has a small carabiner that can probably be attached to a backpack's hip belt. I kind of like the color too. What I don't like: Since the camera fits snugly in the bag, it takes a lot of fiddling to get the camera in and out of the bag. This makes the case pretty useless for me because when I go camping I need something fast so I can snap photos quickly without slowing down the group or myself too much. Inserting and removing the camera from the case takes too long. It's quite difficult to get the camera in and out of the case, so I'm not sure why anyone would put up with that, but maybe some people don't mind fiddling around as much, or can do it faster than me. Perhaps the case I got is a bit smaller than most. I do not know. The fit is so snug that sometimes the camera turns off when I put it in my pocket. This also happens when I carry the camera in my pocket without a case, so some of this may be camera or user related. There is a gap when closing the case, exposing a small portion of the camera to the elements. I wouldn't expect this case to fully protect against water or dirt, but I would like the case to at least have full camera coverage. I also wonder how much the case protects the camera where it actually covers the camera (which is probably 95-99% of the camera). The case is quite thin. People may have different ideas about how thick a case should be; I want it to be 1.5 times thicker than it is. I received a neoprene pouch with my order as well as a drawstring cloth pouch which is not currently displayed on the Revain detail page. It seems the setup is designed to put the camera in a case and then put the case and camera in a matryoshka style bag. Pooh. The question arises: if a case is not enough to protect the camera, but you need a case, then why sell a case? Perhaps this should be viewed as a bag-plus-bag system rather than a case. I appreciate the bag offers some flexibility in balancing the amount of protection a person gets versus the weight and volume, but I want it to be a lightweight bag that partially protects the camera and is quick to open and close can. It's not like this. what i was looking for 3 stars for what is basically advertised as - some of the things I didn't like have more to do with how I intend to use the case than the case itself.
