Great for customizing the kit to fit the case
I had a 16 pin LCD that was to be soldered directly to the PCB. I wanted to mount it in a case, which would mean moving it off the board. I found the ideal solution to be to cut the wires to a good length and line them up along the 0.1" connector pins, and voila.
