It really works and saves time by eliminating the need to change water plates or water when dirty. However, unless I got a bad one or just wasn't using it properly, I had to push the button to change the water 3 or 4 times for each clean water change because the water doesn't get clean at the push of a button. A lot of old water remains in the bowl. It also heavily soils the bottom of the bowl. You would think that watercolor doesn't stain, but they do stain that plastic, although I don't care. I rarely use this anymore because I have to change the water in it quite often as I have to press the button many times before the water runs clear. I don't expect it to be perfectly clean, but it should be clean enough after 1 or 2 hits. It's not that expensive so I'd recommend trying it out, maybe I just have a bad one or I used it wrong. Maybe you'll have better luck than me with that. Much luck!
