I had high hopes for this product. I did a lot of research before finally deciding on a product and read a lot of reviews. I'm one of those people who rarely leave reviews. And to be honest, I've bought a few products before that had pretty bad reviews, but they ended up being perfect for me. Unfortunately, it seems that this company could use a bit of quality control work. After receiving my order, I immediately started with a simple dehydration test on some mushrooms. I'm the kind of person who reads all the instructions and warnings before starting, so I followed the protocol in the manual to the last letter. The device turned on and stayed on, but then turned on and off. I wondered if that was normal for this unit when it reached the set temperature. After 20 minutes I found that the device would no longer turn on and was cold. I've tested all potential issues (by trying different outlets, using other devices with the same outlets to make sure they work, leaving the device unplugged for a while and trying again, etc.). The timer was still counting down and the display showed that the heating was in progress, but the fan and heating element would no longer turn on. A bad block is not a problem - I understand that anything can happen. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to exchange it for a new one, and a few days later the second one was already at my door. Unfortunately, it had an issue with the LED screen. The first digit did not light up (picture). Faced with this issue, I didn't even check to see if the unit would get hot knowing I didn't want to leave a product with a faulty display. After much deliberation I decided not to try the third one and simply asked for a refund. I had already spent time repackaging these items and returning them to the UPS store and I didn't want to continue with this revolving door. The product looks great. If you get one that works I'm sure it's a great product. However, getting two bad apples in a row makes me suspicious. It seems like company strategy is to respond to these negative reviews with something like "Please contact us to resolve this issue." While I can and will, I have already wasted time on two defective products and don't want to waste any more time on my phone. A five star product requires proper quality control. Unfortunately, I doubt I will trust Nesco products in the future.
