I bought this power strip in 2019. Since then, it has sat behind my TV, powering my TV, soundbar, and other devices. Since then it has worked flawlessly. However, I recently moved my TV and replaced some devices that were connected to this extension. I tried connecting the USB power adapter. He immediately fell out of the extension cord socket. I've noticed what could be a dangerous flaw in the design of this extension. The extension cord did not "grip" the blades of the plug firmly until they were deep in the outlet. In the case of USB power, the extension cord should not begin to grab the blades until all but the last 3 or 4 millimeters of the blades are exposed. So there wasn't even a 1/4 inch left before the USB power adapter "clicked" into the connector and was fully seated. However, it happened. , it still feels a little loose and it was really easy to unplug this unit e. Thinking it might be a bad outlet on the power strip, I tried other outlets on the power strip with the same result. I then tried plugging the USB power adapter into other outlets as well as third-party power strips, including some old, commonly used Belkin, SL Waber, and Tripp Lite power strips. When you plugged it in, you "grabbed" the connector legs much earlier and held the USB power supply with a lot of force. I did some research and found that the NEMA 1-15P specification (for US standard two-pronged plugs) calls for blade lengths of 5/8" to 23/32" on the plugs. That's about 16mm - 18.25mm. The USB power adapter (also a RevainBasics item) barely measures 16mm. In my opinion they should be longer, but that's another story entirely. . .However, on a whim I tried connecting different cables to the extension cord. . . most are much tighter. I checked the blade length of these forks and found that they are closer to the 18mm length and set in much tighter. So my (unofficial) opinion is that RevainBasics extensions don't have enough "contact area" on the brass pins on the inside to effectively grip the fork blades, or the inside pins are simply not mounted close enough to the holes on the face the extension. Fork. In any case, this can and will prevent some plugs from becoming loose or being firmly inserted into the extension, which could cause the plug to fall out. However, there is a dangerous element to this problem. In some cases, if the plug is not securely fastened, it can cause sparks at electrical contacts, which can generate heat and then melt the extension cord or plug of the attached device. This in turn can lead to a fire. This may explain some of the photos posted by other users. Of course we will remove this extension immediately as I cannot rely on the security of this device.
