After some testing and studying how much oil is needed to keep the oil from burning, I realized this is the best little invention for this type of choir. I've learned that the microwave popcorn setting exists for a reason and that the oil shouldn't be added until you're 3/4 done or it will burn. I do a cycle and a half in my microwave and once it gives off the first cycle I add oil, watch and wait two seconds. Count to the stop between pops and 98% of Amish popcorn will tenderize. With Amish butter-flavored salt and a little ground table salt, it tastes better than movie popcorn. I don't recommend that you put it on and go and don't try to put oil on the first cycle. It took all the lid could hold since I was using fine grain corn and it only took me about three tries to get it right. Very easy to clean with hot water and soak in a gentle breeze to clean. If you decide to go with a low-calorie one, you can always spray it with a pam after it explodes so the salt or flavor sticks. Without the spray it's just too easy for me to enjoy.
