I’m 5’4’’ and an on the heavier side of things around my hips and stomach and have the love handles even around my backside area. but I have reasonably thin waist. Usually I wear a size 16 for pants. The size XL fits perfectly in my opinion because it’s still loose, so even if this were to shrink a little in the wash, it’s fine because there’s nothing worse than a nightgown that fits too tightly. The people who complain about it shrinking/ feeling too tight, or thinking it’s oddly shaped. it’s 100% cotton. Not a mixed cotton blend. 100% cotton can be finicky at times. And your body shape matters. I personally think it does look somewhat baggy, but I prefer it that way. I ordered larger because I know my body shape needs more space in some areas, and not as much on other areas. Having said that, I pretty much wash everything on the hot cycle ever since the pandemic started and before I start wearing a new clothing piece, and this fits as I just mentioned.I love this goes all the way down almost to the ankles. The embroidery doesn’t bother when wearing because it’s covered with more of the same fabric on the inside, making it a smooth wear. This is 100% cotton, and because of that there is some weight to this nightgown and the texture feels slightly "rough” because it’s NOT a mixed cotton blend. For cotton, this is a smooth feel, and exactly as is l expected. It’s the Type of nightgown that you used to be able to find in the stores about 10 + yrs ago, but now really have a hard time finding ever since it became more popular to make nightgowns out of polyester and similar fabrics. Overall I’m very satisfied with this, and highly recommend if you’re looking for a more traditional, breathable nightgown. I bought one for myself and one for my mom, and she loves it, as well. I’ll be buying more in future.
