I bought the product for my 78-year-old mother because she had not turned off the gas stove completely several times. Many people are unaware of how much the sense of smell deteriorates with age. Well it happened again and luckily the sensor triggered and alerted them before it was too late. When I entered the house a few hours later (she didn't tell me about the incident) I still smelled very strongly of gas, but luckily she turned it off and opened the window. Because of the strong smell, I would have liked the detector to be more sensitive and the alarm to go off earlier as it was very close to the stove, but at least it sounded (and loudly). A natural gas detector is a must for anyone who owns a gas stove and a carbon monoxide detector for those who have a gas heater, which can pose an odorless hazard. Learn the differences in gas detector types and don't hesitate to protect your loved ones at home.
