Note that the substrate for other reptiles (e.g. lizards) is not always safe for snakes, which may inadvertently eat it with their food. Aspen litter is snake proof and this large bag will last several months in our 20 gallon terrarium. Snake droppings are easy to find and remove, keeping the rest of your bedding fresh. We've never had an issue with odor and our kites seem very comfortable. (We have 2 young pythons in a shared terrarium). As a bonus, when it's time to change the bedding, it's so fluffy and light, you can simply flip the terrarium upside down and shake it in the bag!
