Why not 12 cans? for food storage

If my goal is order, why can't this item hold 12 soda cans? They also won't fit in an overhead cabinet, but can work well in a pantry. So if you just want to put all your soup in one basket then they are great. I want my ass to look good in my fridge. That leaves a lot to be desired.
