Quality painting materials are notoriously expensive, and that's understandable. This pastel set is a good starter set for beginners or anyone who likes to play around with pastels. This is a decent set of 24 pieces in assorted colors at a really good price for art supplies. The pastels themselves give vibrant colors and blend quite well. Of course, you can spend MUCH more for much more expensive pastels. This set can be considered a student set, and a beginner at that. The quality is really very good and this set would make a great gift for any young artist. We love having it in the homeschool art supply room. They're fun for everyone and a great tool that everyone should learn at some point. i love pastel
