I needed sun protection without added warmth while hiking or golfing in the desert. The sun protection sleeves ride too low and do not protect the shoulders when wearing a sleeveless shirt. They worked fine. The fabric wicks moisture and is much cooler than cotton. I ordered a large despite being a typical medium as I didn't want the shoulders to be too tight for golf. It worked well and I'll probably order another in the medium size as the large tends to rip a bit in the front near the shoulders. It was ok as I was wearing a short sleeve shirt but might want to go a smaller size with a sleeveless shirt. Can also be easily removed without taking off the top!
