I bought these to punch holes in aluminum beer, soda and juice cans. I make spirit stoves. I give most of it away; but a friend is selling some of them on eBay. Before I could use this puncher for my purposes; I seriously needed to change it. First I used needle nose pliers and erased the paper guide so I could run the punch along the edge of the can so I could punch through the kiln nozzles. Second, I used a screwdriver to pry the guide out. a basket that catches small bits of aluminum because I needed to see exactly where the jets were. Both of those things went well and the hole punch makes nice smooth holes. So why only give the hole punch four stars? Two reasons.1. Soft handles. I have no idea what the pillow handles are made of, but I can't wait for the pillow handles to fall off. I'm actually tempted to cut them off because the word Fuskars is embossed on the handle and the non-slip texture is easy to cause blisters when you need to make a lot of holes.2. The punch is too short and the small disc often gets stuck in the base and you have to use a toothpick or similar to push the disc out so you can see how to punch the next disc. If the punch were 1/32 inch or 1 millimeter longer then the punch would go all the way through the base this problem would be solved.
