Dead on arrival - Terrible update process

Bought because it was the best OBD II scanner recommended on the Tom's Guide website. Already dead when I got there. Didn't work at all when I connected it to my car. I got it working within minutes of the horrible update process. Glad I'm a little tech savvy. A Windows computer is required to carry out the update. The update file is a .rar file, not a zip file. So you need to download the software to open it. After opening the .exe file, running the update does not work. Then you need to find the desired file in the folder to start the update. After starting, the device says programming, do not switch off. A terminal window will open and something like "Update successful!" will be written. Press any key to continue. When you press a key, the terminal window disappears, but the device still says not to turn it off permanently until you turn it off. I took it to my car and it started working right away. I have cycled my machine and the device is dead again. I will return this one and try again. If that doesn't work, I'll pay double for the best selling bluetooth OBD scanner on this site.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Good mostly but...
