I do not have the laboratory equipment or know-how to judge the accuracy of this device. I doubt most buyers do. But it's reasonable to claim that it can at least detect the gases it claims to detect and sound an alarm if concentrations become unhealthy. I tried blowing on it which set off a low oxygen alert which is reassuring. Farting on it doesn't go off the hydrogen sulfide alert, but I can use my nose to detect H2S. In any case, no certificate of calibration or calibration data was included, but it does include a small case with an air hose feed so you can calibrate it yourself if for some reason you have the equipment to do so. I'm mostly concerned with carbon detection. Carbon monoxide and propane because I want to use that in my van. Mounted low, it should be able to wake us up and get us out of the camper in the event of a CO or propane concentration. I'm also considering using it for abandoned mine exploration, but would love to use it in combination with another partner device until I'm fully satisfied that it will work for that application. The device comes with a very nice aluminum carrying case with cut outs for a USB cable, a phone style USB charger and a calibration cap which you will most likely never use. The case is solid, but it's a lot bigger than it should be. Need a durable case for your phone charger and USB cable? By the way, the cable is Micro-USB, not USB-C. The device charges with a phone charger, so you can charge it anywhere you can charge your phone. It also comes with a fairly detailed user guide, which is a big plus, as well as lots of alarm threshold settings. The device itself is made of rather cheap plastic. Reminds me of a toy. But that doesn't really matter... the thing looks cheap, but it's strong enough for its purpose. To be honest the smoke alarms also feel like cheap plastic and we have no problem using them. The alert it gives is a heavily accented female voice telling you exactly what the problem is, followed by a horn-like warning. Some words are too accented to understand, but you get the gist. A faint red light will also illuminate and the screen will indicate what the problem is. Basically, an unfamiliar voice telling you something in the middle of the night should wake you up before the siren goes off. I confess that I don't have much experience with these devices to determine if this particular model is any better. or worse than everyone else. But I do know it's reasonably priced, well packaged, and works as advertised. If I had paid for it I would not have been disappointed.
