We bought a "Smoker" (we smelled clues and new things coming) and upon purchase found that the previous owner had one of these in the HVAC intake (after the filter, before the AC). It was almost gone, and when it was gone, the smell of smoke returned with a vengeance. We renovated, primed and painted everything in the house to get rid of the smoke smell that replaced the smoke smell with the smell of paint. A week after painting, I put a new one on the A/C air intake and the paint smell was gone within a day. Bottom Line: The smell of smoke will never go away, it can only be masked and this product did an excellent job of doing that. The smell of paint fades over time and this product covers it up quickly and completely.
