Years ago you could buy a 4" x 6" thin cellulose sponge that was about 1/2" thick. I've been looking for these ever since, but they don't make them anymore. So I took a bread knife and cut some of these 4x6 inch, 1 inch thick sponges in half. Just like cutting a piece of bread. Sponges are cut cleanly and evenly. I now have THIN 4x6 sponges just the way I like them. I use my modified fine sponges in the kitchen and for cleaning. Cut thin, they are easy to squeeze out with one hand and are easier to handle and clean than thicker sponges. Put them in the dishwasher to keep them clean.
