With all the great reviews I thought this would be the last guitar cabinet mic stand I would ever have to buy but I have to echo some of the other reviewers that the design has it some extremely annoying issues: the main shaft is actually oddly threaded and extremely difficult to tighten, leaving your mic free to spin around the axis at all times. This is made worse by the fact that working with a handle adjustment to increase altitude tends to break any tension you may have achieved (as well as adjusting boom alignment, any movement and sudden free spinning with every impact, which is a real represents a challenge). pain associated with the precision required of a guitar cabinet microphone). I think it's a plus that there's a 5/8" adapter and smaller European-style plugs on the end of the stem, but almost all of my mic clips are 5/8". ", and EVERY time I change it, the adapter comes loose with the clip when unscrewing it. The adapter has a slot for unscrewing when that happens, but it's made for a 5/8" wide flathead screwdriver, den I don't have and never have, so I literally have to resort to a pair of pliers and a nickel to detach the adapter from my mic clip and put it back on the mic stand, only to detach it again the next time I attach it and remove it the clip. I don't need superglue to make the mic stand work! a few inches probably due to the minimum height of the stand - I wish it was a little taller and I would have settled for a higher minimum height as many times I've extended it to the full and it still wasn't high enough. This stand definitely has its advantages: the workmanship is good, the design of the foot doesn't bother me (unless the shaft rotates freely, you can suddenly lose your balance), and the main cocking controls for the tilt and extension of the boom are of high quality. But in everyday use it's very annoying and I'm still looking for a tripod that's well made and reliably inert once installed. Recommendations are welcome!
