This is a good size for most adult shoes. The degree of deodorant can be adjusted by turning the ball. I put them in a new pair of leather boots (I don't care about the smell of leather) and the next morning I still smelled the leather, but not as much. I also put them in an old smelly pair of gardening boots. It took about a week for the smell to go away completely. And when I started wearing them again and wore them after each wear, the stinky garden smell was a lot less. They claim they last about 30 days. Once that time is up I'll see if I can open it without destroying it completely. If so, then the essential oil on a cotton swab makes a good deodorant.
