Firstly, the company that makes this vacuum cleaner has gone to great lengths to make repairs difficult. You'll need a "safe" T15 extended-reach Torx bit to remove about 12 screws. Although there was a hidden bracket next to the switch, I was able to slide the cases apart far enough to access the internal power cables. I cut off the positive and neutral wires, removed the existing rubber grommet/gasket and inserted a new wire using a few drops of dish soap as a lubricant. I then secured the stripped ends of the new wire with the permanent jack nuts I had on hand and pinned the wire in place, staying away from the grub screws. Then I mounted all the screws. The new cable appears to be made out of a sturdy outer shell and should hold up better than the original. I did this repair for a friend but would definitely not buy a Shark vacuum as they are not repairable.
