All the excellent reviews here and from other independent reviewers have convinced me how good this product is for the price. I bought this drive specifically for my new Lenovo IdeaPad, primarily so I can play DVDs. Initially I was very happy with it, although it was a bit noisy and the cord was annoyingly short. But I was able to watch movies and even reinstall programs with my discs. But then 4 days ago, two months after purchase, my laptop didn't recognize the drive. The mechanism works, but then nothing happens. I could only open and close the block. I went in circles trying to fix the problem and thought the problem was a bad windows drive update. Now it won't start at all, can't even open/close it, and I've tried it on my friend's laptop too. Unfortunately the return window passed and I ran out of $30 and the disc. So very disappointed. I would recommend others to pay a little more for a different, more reliable product. UPDATE 8/17/2020: Despite missing the Revain return window, I decided to contact the manufacturer to request a replacement when I saw that there was an 18 month warranty on the actuator. They responded quickly and sent a new device within two days. I just received the package and the hard drive is working fine. However, I noticed that when I first connect it to my laptop, it doesn't show up in File Explorer. I need to access it from device settings or 3rd party player (like 5KPlayer). A few extra steps, but I'm glad it plays my movies. Customer service was top notch; they tried very hard to please. 4.5 stars.
