Not compatible with all devices

I have an external Mecury Elite 6TB drive and these cables do NOT recognize this particular drive while another cable I already had works fine with this one hard drive is working. Anyway, I pulled out another external drive with eSATA capabilities and are these cables working fine? Smelly computers. I think these cables will fit most people and devices but NOT MERCURY ELITE.
