I went back and forth with the medium size because my daughter (got it on her 7th birthday) was just right with the 21 inch (52 lb) inseam . But I wanted her to be instantly comfortable on bangs, so I chose medium instead of large. It turns out that average height is perfect for her. She hoped she could easily control the pony. I think this size will fit her too. And yes, this is a very cool toy! It's still very expensive, but I like that it doesn't have a battery that just dies after a year like other cars. It seems like it's going to take longer. My daughter was very happy with the toy. She drives it in our house and also in our cul-de-sac.
