I wasn't sure it would work because the reviews were about 50/50. However, I bought it for a trip abroad and honestly it was worth it. I have long hair, medium thickness, naturally wavy but not curly. Heats up quickly, curlers work great. Also, I was in Scotland so it was humid at times and the straightener worked great. It's a decent size for compact travel, to be honest. My hair falls on my chest - if it was much thicker or longer it would be difficult to use a curler as it is shorter than a regular curling iron. If you are a short or medium length then this is also excellent and comfortable for everyday use. It gets very hot so I would use a thermal glove. I'd say I put it in my holdall (it's lined with a super heat resistant foil-like material) right after use and it warped - best to let it cool down a bit before zipping it back into the bag . I am very happy with it and have been using it on every trip ever since. So far, so good. I had it about 4 months.
