I found the ad very misleading and put it on return/refund. Yes, what you see is what you get, but what you don't see is what you need. The picture shows the top half of the cap, but when it arrives the locking mechanism and rubber seal are not included. I went to various places online and couldn't find the rest of the lid assembly. The only reason I might see wanting to replace the top is if the strap snapped. But if your car gives you the message "Check gas cap" and you search the internet for a solution, 90% will tell you to replace your gas cap. This is because everything is under computer control, including the level of vacuum/pressure in the fuel tank. If the seal leaks, a vacuum is released which resets the air/fuel reading for the electronic fuel injection data on the computer. So yes, you can take out the old guts and put in a new cap, but a leaking gasket will still leak. You should point out that this is not a complete lid assembly. Search eBay for FC-1058 and you will find one that has 4 pictures on all sides.
