Review on 1 TB External SSD SanDisk Extreme Portable V2, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C by Adam Worek ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The product is completely satisfied, performs its functions.

I took a disk to install Ubuntu OS on it, for work, so as not to be tied to a specific PC. Works great, fast. But since I'm using an external drive in this way for the first time, there is uncertainty about the operating temperature of the drive, namely: due to the lack of support for S. M. A. R. T. there is no way to check the temperature during operation using Linux tools (hddtemp, smartctl). Tactilely, the temperature of this disk seems to be kept within the stated limits (up to 70 ° C). But it’s clear that it’s not a matter of touching control) I contacted Sandisk support, they answered that there is Sandisk Dashboard software, but it only works on Windows. I tried to install it on Ubuntu via wine - the installation went through, but when I start the application window, there is only a black screen, although you can interact with the interface (by accidentally clicking on the window area, I went to the Sandisk website). At the moment, I have not figured out how to configure the application in Ubuntu. In Windows, by the way, the application also does not display temperature readings. I believe that in general the disk is good, for use as a drive - for sure. Regarding the fact that I can’t yet find out the hardware temperature of the disk, I fully admit that I haven’t fully figured it out. Lowered the rating only due to the lack of support for S. M. A. R. T. , which leads to the need to find solutions, which brings discomfort when using.
