Review on Oster 6706 Blender: High-performance 6-Cup 450-Watt, 10-Speed Black Blender by Stacy Hahn

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I got lucky on the second try. Here's what I learned.

So when I first got this blender I was very excited. Until I noticed that it was dripping from below when pouring. It was frustrating. I almost tried again but Amazon sent me a replacement. So I waited and this time paid special attention to the assembly instructions. I thought ok - I put a rubber ring on the blade and a nut on the blade. did i do it last time What I didn't notice before, but I think it's very important, is that you turn the cup upside down when assembling it. Place it on the counter with the bottom facing up. Then carefully place the rubber ring over the cup, making sure it's in place, then carefully put the knife and nut on last. So what I did differently was put the parts upside down in that order...instead of the first time I put the parts right side up in the nut and then screwed them to the cup. Also, this time I made sure the tabs on the cup and motor lined up once I put the mixing cup on. This will prevent the nut from loosening when the engine is turned on. I think it's important to do it alone to keep the tightness. In short, follow the assembly instructions up to the letter T in the order described and you should have a well-functioning blender. I hope this was clear and helpful to those struggling with the leak. ******UPDATE: Of course you should make sure the blender nut is tight between uses. I've used the blender twice in a row (one to blend, one to clean) without checking the nut, and the third time I have leaks everywhere as soon as I turn it on. Pretty destructive. Sounds like a design flaw? I can't give it 5 stars anymore... maybe 4 at most given the price?
