Soft and perfect for a small dog bed. The only problem is that the floor wasn't waterproof. So if the puppy peed on the puppy mats or on the stall floor next to the bed, all the water would seep into the blanket and bedding. However, I was able to put a plastic wrap inside the bedding cover and get it to work. Now you can simply open the cover and wash it instead of washing the entire bed or throwing away the linens. :)
