I needed a solution for the Christmas lights, during Christmas and Halloween we hang tons of lights including for Halloween a giant pumpkin face singing through various strings of lights triggered by my computer. I've used zip ties in the past but they tended to dry out and break within a short period of time if I carried them outside and at least twice I've had to direct the light to the pumpkin's face, I know first world problems, it is annoying. Well these straps allow me to secure the lights and make sure the straps don't dry out or rot so I can put them on once and consider it done. I have also used these belts on several young trees that I planted after a recent hurricane. The small flimsy zip ties I used broke and I wanted something stronger that would keep the trees from snapping. Now these are hard edges so you need to make sure they don't dig into the trunk of your tree. I took a piece of fabric and wrapped it around the strap, sealed it with tape and then wrapped it around the tree leaving it a bit loose so it had room to grow and bend. As the tree grows this strap will need to be trimmed or adjusted, which is possible if it sags a little, simply insert a small screwdriver, razor blade or something small into the stop sleeve and push the bearing down. I like them, wish there was a simple built in trigger but they work very well.
