Review on πŸ“· SIRUI MT5-C MyTrip Aluminum Travel Tripod with Carbon Ball Head by Rachel Streater

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Extremely light, compact, good fit and finish.

This is a fantastic tripod for the backpacker or hiker who wants to minimize the weight and still carry a decently sized tripod into the backcountry. I've used "desktop" tripods like the UltraPod II or the Manfrotto Pixie Evo Mini in the past, but they just aren't great for stitching multiple panoramas together or adjusting landscape photos at odd angles. This is ideal for landscape photography, long exposure night skies, or telephoto photography. The mechanical parts of this tripod are really nice. The legs snap into place easily and the telescoping parts extend and retract smoothly. Quarter turn mounts for each leg section allow the entire tripod to be deployed in 15 seconds. I highly recommend replacing the crappy carabiner they attached to the bag hook on the bottom of the tripod. I was 12 feet. The piece of paracord attached to mine worked great for hanging a 30lb rock for stability (see photo). It stood on a mountain top in a HARD wind for 30 minutes. with minimal vibration and no movement. However, if you have nothing to weigh it down, it can easily fall off. In my opinion, this is a very lightweight device, especially when you remove the vertical rack. This is one of the lightest tripod options that can accommodate a mirrorless camera body and reasonably sized lenses. For an ultralight backpacker, or a backpacker trying to minimize the weight of a backpack, this can feel heavy. but then just take a smartphone and an external battery. The B-00 ball head is excellent equipment. Excellent finish and coating, and the mechanical action of the twistlocks is impeccable. There are slightly lighter options that I may substitute in the future, but this is a great ball head. Photos by Joshua Tree Natl. A park.
