Review on Linear Sliding Carriage Printer Machine by Rodney Mendoza

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent rails work best with linear guide actuators

Used on the X axis of my core XY 3D printer. I cleaned and re-oiled it before use and it worked very well. Smooth movement, no sticking, no noticeable slippage, definitely a good choice for imported splints. One piece of advice that goes against what most will tell you is to avoid grease that contains PTFE (Teflon), molybdenum, or other solids. You do not need solid lubrication in linear rails. You want a low viscosity lube or oil that sticks well. Smearing is preferable in a printer as oil can drip onto things like the print bed and is just a nuisance. I use Kluber Isoflex NCA52. It's not cheap! I say this because you will probably be appalled at the price. I think I paid $55 for a 50g tube a few years ago and I probably have enough left over to last ten years or more. I find that $5 a year for lube isn't that bad, and it's noticeably better than most other popular alternatives. So I invested in good things. It's cheaper than replacing worn rails, which is what I've had to do in the past. It's your decision. But they are definitely good rails for the money and I would buy them again at any time.

Pros
  • linear guide actuators
Cons
  • cable is shorter than other parts
