I cut a medium tomato almost evenly, I had to move it a bit to cut through. Cucumbers were in one breath! Sweet potato - it cut it fine but I tried the julienne setting and the force required to cut it was huge and certainly unsafe to use that much force. The blade isn't sharp enough for this type of food, but sweet potatoes are difficult to cut with a sharp knife, so it makes sense that this blade would have the same problem. The adjustable depth is a big plus and feels solid enough. . Just not suitable for tougher veggies, but works well with softer veggies. The handle mechanism clicks into place and is great, especially for the novice cook! It didn't take too long to clean, but drying is another issue. Water will get into the notch/blade of the blade and if you put in a clean and dry blade it will get wet again. Overall recommended, especially for this price range!
