Review on πŸ”’ Oacvien Vacuum Sealer: Advanced Food Saver Machine for Preserving Dry, Soft, and Moist Food by Wendy Key

Full air on small appliances

Like one of the other reviewers, I've always wanted a vacuum sealer. In particular, I had to seal 2 pork shoulder blades that weighed about 10 pounds each. Since the small pouches that came with the unit couldn't hold such a large roast, I had to buy Food Saver brand buns that can be cut to size. First let me say the instructions are pathetic. I believe they were written by someone who doesn't speak English. The directions are vague and incomplete. You should only "guess" when using this product. Now I will say that pinching the end of the wrapper worked great during the heat sealing process. However, his attempt to suck my products was a joke. When the suction was complete, there was a lot of air in the bag. Seriously, I could just buy a box of $3 ziploc bags, compress them, and remove more air than this unit. On my first attempt at vacuuming, I had to start and stop the process 3 times. I think the bag should sit just right in the tank. Anyway, when he finally started removing some of the air from the bag, I was delighted. It then stopped prematurely, although there was still a significant amount of air in the bag. Well I'm disappointed and honestly I'll probably throw this sealer in the trash. Now I have to decide if I want to go to Costco and invest in Food Saver brand sealants after buying those $35 Food Saver buns or just cut my losses.
