Review on Cable Matters 10Gbps Aluminum Enclosure by Gary Parker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great NVMe case but instructions would be nice!

First of all, it is an absolute 5-star product in terms of functionality. Once assembled it's easy to use, appears to be very durable, and comes with everything you need (except for the NVMe drive itself, of course). Tested with a fairly cheap 256GB drive and the sequential read/write speed was 1Gb/s, even on a non-Thunderbolt USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port, so great! Gets a little warm so use the included spacer to turn everything into one large heatsink. Then why only 4 stars? It pretty much depends on how you built it, which you'll almost have to figure out for yourself. It comes with minimal instructions so you have to figure everything out yourself. However, it's not that hard for someone with low technical skills who has worked with NVMe drives and/or drive enclosures before, but I would imagine someone new to these things would have to play around with it longer than it did should last. Improve the instructions (and maybe add a diagram or two) and this unit is 5 stars all day long!
