Edit: To be fair, it looks like Securifi has released a newer version that supports Alexa. I don't know how this updated version works and I'm not paying money to find out, but unless they made BIG improvements my score stays the same. The price I paid is $89.99. I had this range extender. now for almost 3 years. I bought it back in January 2015 and the thing was *ok* at best for what it claims to be. More often than not, it's more like it's not worth it. It has restarted and lost signal dozens of times over the years I've had it, and the output is weak. It consistently puts out a weaker signal than the router, 15Mbps is the fastest I've ever gotten from this thing. It just can't keep up and completely defeats the purpose. The ethernet port works, it's not much better than the wireless signal but it works so I'll give it to him. I tested the output of this range extender while standing 20 feet from it and I got 3.5Mbps. I stood in the same spot and connected to my main router which was 40ft away and Almond was only 20ft away getting 16Mbps direct from the router. What's the point? It's garbage. Build quality looks cheap, screen looks cheap, I don't like the UI, it has trouble connecting to routers at a moderate distance, overall I'm seriously disappointed with the Securifi Almond. I won't go into detail as I feel like this will get lost in a sea of reviews and it has mostly positive reviews, but I haven't had a positive experience with it. I really wanted to like this thing and let it act as a competent range extender, but I'm fed up with it. Absolutely not worth $90 and not even worth $25 to me. fair price would be $10. Not recommended at all.
