As I work in the broadcasting industry I use headphones more than average, namely MDR - Der 7506 is among the best for all round broadcast use, the ear pads certainly don't last very long. I usually deal with this by thinking that pads are irreplaceable for most of my career. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was. They're comfortable and true to size, although the pair I received seem to have extra material where it fits the speaker bezels that I wasn't able to fit as snugly as I did. would have liked. I may well be missing something, but they fit well enough to get a proper fit and, most importantly, don't interfere with the sound quality at all. The foam helps isolate the sound over my ears which is what makes these Sony monitors such great studio monitors. I think the description says the pads are memory foam, although I can't confirm that, all I know is that they feel nice and comfortable, which is perhaps the most important lesson in this purchase. If you're considering replacing your pads (and let's be honest, if you're going to be using Sony for a very long time, you will) get these replacement pads, they're definitely worth it. ***NOTE* **Don't know why, but awesome. An aluminum handle was found in the packaging that looks like it broke off from where it was originally welded. This has NOTHING to do with the product I ordered and as far as I can tell it only added to the weight of the package. I don't know why they did this because being a prime member I didn't have to pay any shipping at all. I'm a little confused as to why they would include something like this if not to add weight. If it's a way to get us to pay extra shipping costs then that's a pretty low way, but if that's not the reason I have no idea what it was for because it definitely had nothing to do with that what I ordered.
