NOT for heavier bookshelf speakers

These speaker stands are definitely affordable and easy to assemble, just be aware of the size/weight of the bookshelf speakers you are putting on them. I use them to support a pair of PSB Alpha B1 speakers, which I would rate as small and relatively light (10 pounds each). The problem is that the base and speaker platform are made of metal, but the base of the stand is made of MDF board covered in plastic. These stands were starting to get heavy with anything more than a "satellite" surround speaker. I could not find the maximum recommended speaker weight in the product description - clarification would be helpful to Atlantic. I would also be happy to know that the feet of the stand are not metal - had I known that I probably would have spent a little more and bought something else. Coasters include what is termed "scratch resistant" (i.e., plastic). ground spikes. It is good that they are made of plastic, because without the installed spikes it is impossible to use the coasters. The four screws that hold the stand bracket in place have a round head and protrude from the underside of the stand base. If the manufacturer had opted for pan head (flush) screws, these stands could be used without the floor spikes, making them much more stable on uncarpeted surfaces. you could spend a little more and get a much sturdier frame. I can only recommend them for use with speakers under 8 pounds and on carpeted floors.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
