Does not quite fit GoPro Hero 3+ Black

I bought this card to use with a GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition. I felt that I would choose a card that was suitable for cameras and had a large capacity. I should have studied it beforehand. The first few times I used it I shot 1080p/30fps and it worked great. However, when I ran it at 1080p/60fps, I found that the camera stopped recording randomly. I never managed to record more than 10 minutes with this card. I started investigating the problem and all indications were that this card wasn't up to the task. The GoPro website has a list of recommended cards for use with specific models to ensure proper performance. SandDisk Ultra is not included in this list at all. You will need a SanDisk Extreme for this. I tested the card and it reads well at 32MB/s, but write speeds range from 9.0MB/s to 9.5MB/s. To record at 1080p/60fps, a write speed of at least 10MB/s is recommended, so that was my problem. Frustrated that this is being sold for cameras but doesn't have brilliant sequential write performance I've decided to go with another brand entirely. I got a Lexar 600x 32GB for a little more than what I paid for that 64GB card. Sure, it's double the price per gigabyte, but it's worth it. The read speed is 36 MB/s and the sequential write speed is 33 MB/s. I should have no problem with this card even recording in 4k on my GoPro. No problem recording long videos at 1080p/60fps so far, so good work Lexar. I think I can throw this 64GB SanDisk in my phone.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
