Review on 🎧 Yinyoo KZ ZSX 5BA 1DD Over Ear Earbuds: Superior Noise Cancelling Hybrid Headphones with Balanced Armature Dynamic Driver (Black, Wired, No Mic) by Heather Brown

(Pictures and video coming soon!) I've gotten a little carried away trying many headphones and on-ears, so now I have a wide range to compare. I hope you find this useful as it's not written by an audiophile, not a purist (ie overly questioning perfection), POV. This means that while I don't use cheap free headphones like the cheap white plastic ones you may have received, I also don't buy headphones that cost hundreds of dollars. I also listen to a wide variety of music and want headphones to fit everyone (classical at work, industrial, britpop, indie, synthpop, new wave, hip hop/rap, classic country the rest of the day). the most impressive build and sound quality for the price of all my headphones. Background: I have several other headphones from KZ which overall make amazing headphones for the price and compete with competitors that cost many times more. My last favorites were the ED16s but now they can be changed for them. Package Contents: The packaging for this flagship has been updated. No more cheap white box. It's book style and feels like you're giving yourself a gift. The foam insert holds the headphones. The tab at the bottom makes it easy to lift to reveal tips and other essentials. The included cable is an upgrade from previous versions I have purchased. The Guts: Each device has 5 drivers. A dynamic driver handles the sub-bass and 4 balanced armatures take care of everything above the sub-bass. Impedance is listed as 24 ohms and sensitivity as 105dB/mW so you should be comfortable when connected to your phone/computer but the sound is definitely better with stronger sources. This is how you should wear your headphones in the beginning! Holds great in place. It appears to have a gold plated 75mm stylus and NO phone microphone so keep that in mind. You can buy aftermarket cables with mics if you want. And if you're wondering if the built-in mic affects sound quality, a lot of people have looked into it and concluded that there's no noticeable impact on quality, so I'd rather have it already enabled, but that's a small one Point as I have several spare cables with microphones. Also note that these are two-pin connectors. More on that soon. Just need to know that having detachable cables is awesome to me and I wish every earbud had this option as the cable often dies/damages before the headphones themselves. It's cheaper to just replace the cable than the whole headphone! Body: I love the design! It's definitely different than others, and for me it's good, not universal. To me it looks almost sci-fi, futuristic, like something out of Star Wars. More importantly, the body is metal and feels pretty solid, unlike some of my other great sounding headphones which are plastic and I feel like they can break easily. Seems like you can sit on them, drop them, throw them against a wall and they'll be fine. They have a 2 pin plug which is AMAZING! Why? I use headphones with my phone all the time, put them in my bag and take them out throughout the day (I live in New York, I ride the subway and it's always with me), on the way to work and to the gym and then when the cables ran out. until break. It sucks to throw away headphones because of the cable. With detachable cables, you simply buy a new cable and keep your headphones. Plus, you can upgrade your cable if you want, and the ZS7 lets you do that. They're pretty good, but there are much better (yes, more expensive) versions out there, and you may or may not need a microphone. Bass: First of all, I'm NOT a bass player. For that, you can look at other headphones. I personally prefer a wider soundstage to hear "everything". They definitely have sub-bass, but in a controlled way. I didn't notice any setback. The mid-bass is a bit more elevated but also controlled with good punch and decay without impeding the mids. I think it's an improvement over what I can say about the ED16/ZS6, there's less bass and it sounds more natural. In my opinion these headphones handle the bass better than almost all of my other headphones! Please note AGAIN that this is my opinion and I am not an expert and have not used any software to analyze anything. Mids: I found the mids to be good on my other models from this manufacturer, but this one is really improved. Now the mids seem to be masked by the bass/treble compared to others. The mids feel a lot stronger here, like I'm ahead of the show! If you like a deep V-shaped sound signature, this isn't it. I like getting all the details that the artist intended. Treble: What bothers me the most about other headphones is the harsh treble, maybe my ears are sensitive. I do not understand that. Of course there's high frequencies, but they're not too shiny or tinny. Has a good rollback. I often fiddle with the EQ setting to tame the high end of other headphones, but didn't feel the need for these. Sound: The overall sound is very good for a) headphones and b) this price. If I really want to, I wear full-size studio headphones, but that's a different class/price and purpose. The ZS7 does a great job of giving you an open soundstage that's wider than its predecessors. I can hear the instruments (instrument separation) and the sound doesn't seem overloaded even with fast or loaded songs. Overall: I think they succeeded! To me, it's like they took all of the consumer feedback and packed it into a pair of great-looking, great-feeling and great-sounding headphones.
