Review on High Point PCI Express RocketU 1144D by Todd Mamat

Great card if you have the know-how

My operating system is Windows 8.1 64. I need to use this card to access a shared drive on my PC with other computers on my network. My shared drives are 4TB each; Both are connected to the docking station. When I first installed the card, Windows didn't install the correct drivers for the chipset on the card. I had to look for the right drivers: ASMedia xHCI Host Controller Driver 1.16.45.1. After I downloaded the drivers, the installation was still difficult as they weren't "signed" by Microsoft. Therefore, you need to override the default and allow the driver to install. I had to use the manual installation process outlined in the ReadMe.txt file that came with the drivers. Then you MUST make sure your device, in my case the docking station, is USB 3.1 Gen 2 compliant. If you meet all of the above, you will be happy with your new card. For me, that meant some upgrades and purchases. With all that said, you should be happy with your purchase because speed is a great reward. This whole process is not for those who aren't aiming for a 10Gb/s end result. It takes time, patience and an understanding of the technologies involved. Too bad the drivers aren't "signed" by Microsoft. Unfortunately, High Point doesn't ship riders with the card; they shall be accompanied by appropriate installation instructions and a detailed explanation of the correct selection of peripheral devices and cables. I still think the map is the best at the moment. I bought two of these cards. Both arrived later than promised from Revane.
