I have been working with augments for about two years now, mainly because it was not easy enough yet still useful when using mobile devices like tablets and smartphones which can be used as part of software developed by us (3D rendering). And being able to use natively from our own applications helped reduce costs. The system has evolved considerably recently compared to other similar apps such as ARKit. It's getting better! Also they are constantly improving their SDKs so there should no issues left out anymore. Having the ability to create realistic experiences within my product line without having to build expensive hardware setups. We were looking for a solution allowing users to navigate into virtual environments while seeing what we call "augmented" objects (actually only graphics) at any time during normal day work tasks but also outside office hours - to boost productivity during training sessions etc.
