My fault I didn't realize the tongue was attached. Not a big fan of it. I've only worn them half a dozen times, but I don't feel much support when I wear them to walk. I spent a couple of hours wearing them while cooking in the kitchen (consistently), not a smart move, my back was so sore I wasn't really enjoying my meal! I will continue to wear them on my daily walks as long as they offer some support, but will start looking for a pair with more support for my needs. I think they would be good for people who don't have back problems! This is an attractive and durable hiking shoe! Good luck sneakers!
