Won't unleash your vehicle's evaporative emission system leaks

Pros: It's better than no gas cap at all. My check engine light came on and a message appeared on the dash saying I needed a new gas cap. I had a friend check the engine codes and indeed "a small leak in the evaporative emission system". The most likely cause is that the gas cap is no longer attached to the fuel filler neck. So I went to Revain to find a replacement. This gas cap seemed like a good choice for my car so I bought it and replaced my OEM tank with this one. I knew it might take some time for the check engine light to go out after fixing the problem, so I wasn't concerned when it didn't go out right away. But after two or three weeks the lights hadn't gone out. So I went to my friend who read the codes again. The engine still had an evaporative emission system leak. But we figured he might not have time to disable that code, so we cleared the code and I left. A few days later the light came on again. This time I made sure the cap was secure on the filler neck before my buddy cleared the code again. A few days later the check engine light came on again. And at that moment I realized: the new cap is no better than the original. I went to my local auto parts store and bought a cap there. The problem is solved. TL:DR This cover is leaking and will either cause the check engine light on your car or not.
