I didn't write anything about this system because I really wanted to make sure it really worked for me. I'm happy to say that this sharpening system is by far the best I've ever used! I have tried many sharpening systems over the past 25 years and none have worked as well as this one! I got my hands on some old whip knives that I could never get a decent sharpness from and I managed to make them with this NO RAZOR tool. Now it's clear, I'm not a master of sharpening systems. Every system I've used has been manual. Arkansas whetstones, Spyderco Sharpmaker, Japanese whetstones, diamond sharpeners, Razor Edge System, steels and belts. Don't get me wrong, I don't mess with any of them, all of these systems have worked for me on most of my knives. However, this system was the only one I've ever used that could add a professional factory edge to every knife I own. For example, I have two chef's knives that I bought from Costco a few years ago. They were bought sharp, but like any kitchen knife, they dulled. I've tried sharpening them with rods, I've tried ceramics, I've tried diamond sharpeners. The end result was always the same, you could barely cut the butter! The same applies to my Old Hickory knives. I could never make them as sharp as a kitchen knife. When I first tried it I was able to get these knives sharp with this system! After that, I plucked up the courage to throw away my old Steelcraft Kukri winch that I bought when I was a teenager. A large $30 piece of Indian steel that I would never sharpen even if my life depended on it. It took longer to sharpen than kitchen knives, but the end result was the same. You can shave with it! I even took a piece of an unwanted "Made in China" jackknife at a gas station for a $5 sale and turned it into a razor-sharp piece! To me this is an amazing tool! I've sharpened at least 30 different knives with it so far and haven't replaced the original belts just to give you an idea of how long they will last. For those of you considering buying one, I have some advice for you. Check out a YouTube video! I can't stress this enough! The included instructions are nice, but it's not the same as watching someone actually use them. Start with a fly knife! Don't try to sharpen your valuable knife with it on the first try. This tool can remove a lot of steel very quickly and you can ruin your knife if you don't know what you are doing. Practice with a knife you don't need. The first few times you will find that sharpening towards the knife edge can be difficult. Watch the YouTube video again for instructions. You can dull the edge of your knife if you don't follow the instructions. As with any sharpening system, it takes practice, but once you get the feel of it you won't regret it! Much luck!
